Summary

The story of ABSINTH is all about the Greed and the Deed. It revolves around the death of an Army Colonel in a mysterious way.
Though the court declared it as a natural death, few of his friends who gather at a highway hotel accidentally, suspect foul play. If at all it's a murder, who killed Colonel ... and why?
Karma follows. It never spares anyone. Watch out!!
This play, inspired by a small story (late 1930) by Mr. Stuart, is written by Aasif Kshathriya and jointly directed by Shwetha Shrinivas and Asif Kshathriya.

Director: Shwetha Shrinivas:

Shwetha Shrinivas is an Actor, Costume Designer, Director & a Dancer. She has been actively in theater since 20 years and won several State and National Awards. Being trained in NINASAM, she has acted in 60 plays, 12 daily soaps for TV and Kannada movies like, Pancharangi, Tony, Dyavre, Benkipatna, Krishna leela, Dodmane Hudga, Dana Kaayonu , April' Na Himabindu, DNA, Neeru Tandavaru, Naticharami, Ganga, Public Toilet and few more. Alongside she has appeared in many corporate films, Ad commercials and short films too. She is also Odissi and Yakshagana dance practitioner. Also, she has participated in the international theatre workshop 'Navarasa Saadhana' at Natanakairali, Irinjalakuda in Kerala under Guru Sri. G. Venu. Apart from all these, She keeps herself busy training aspiring Actors in acting methodology regularly and teaches acting and other Theatre Crafts to youth and Children through Online Workshops. Shwetha Shrinivas is associated with the theatre group Rangaratha – Indian Performing Arts Company, holding the post of President.

Playwright: Aasif Kshathriya

Aasif Kshathriya is a well-known theatre and film personality with a unique blend of science, arts, literature and culture. Being associated with films and theatre since past 25 years, Aasif has carved a niche both as an Actor and as a Director.

A former professor in Electronics Mr. Aasif, nurtured his passion in the field of performing arts. Having worked with veterans like BV Karanth, MS Sathyu, Irshad Panjatan, Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar, Peter Brook, Arundhati Nag, Prothima Bedi, and few more, Aasif has picked up nuances of theatre art, music and film craft from them.

He has directed many Theatre Plays, few Feature films, Short films and Documentaries on Folk culture, Wildlife, Corporate films, Ad commercials and won many recognition, accolades and awards too. Kannada as well as Hindi Television industry saw his presence as an actor and a director. Aasif Kshathriya is associated with the theatre group Rangaratha – Indian Performing Arts Company and is accredited as Professional Actor & Director."

We are so used to instant food, job, friendship, money we are also bombarded with requests for short plays. We now have successfully prepared the “Bouquet of Stories” exclusively for you. Marking the 100th birth anniversary of Kodagina Gowramma , the gallant feminist writer at her times (1912-1939) we are staging her short story too as part of this festival.  The play is in Kannada and the exquisite selection of the stories will make you want more.
