Come and join us as a Production Intern.  Fill in THIS FORM & let us know your intent to join Prakasam. The Production Intern Program offers you the opportunity to work alongside professional artists and managers at the forefront of an award-winning regional not-for-profit theatre group. 

Please note that during the production internship two days absence is accepted, a third day if the reason is genuine.  If you can not attend more than three day's then it would be difficult for us to spend time with you and also on our production.  Kindly stick to the day's and times mentioned for the production.  This is what would define your interest and commitment the two basic characters we look at as a team and which is primary to any theatre production.

Who is a Production Intern?
Internships at the Prakasam are designed to give creative and ambitious individuals who are interested in theatre the opportunity to work directly with professional theatre artists and administrators and the opportunity for students to bridge the gap between collegiate work and professional life. The goals of our Internship Program are to offer individuals with experiential learning and insight into a career path, facilitate opportunities to make professional contacts, and equip individuals with marketable skills for jobs and graduate programs in theatre and not-for-profit management.

Why With Prakasam?

We at Prakasam believe in bringing in youth to theatre making them aware of their true potential. Our other aim is to generate newer audiences and enthuse them to get inclined to watching theatre.

Would I get a certificate or letter of participation?

Yes

Who can apply for a theatre internship?

Anyone over age of 15, with few hours a day to spare, can apply

Do theatre internships pay?

We normally do not pay unless it is a commissioned show, but we do compensate anything spent for the production.

What are the benefits of a theatre internship?

Interns gain hands-on experience, industry connections, practical skills in Stage Management, Production Management, Acting, Lighting, Sound, Sets, Costumes, Properties, Backstage, Artistic Management, Box Office, Theatre Education, Financial Management, Fundraising/Development, House Management, Dramaturgy/Literary Management, Marketing/Public Relations.

What will I do as an intern?

Duties can include assisting with rehearsals, set design, costumes, stage management, marketing, box office, and production support. Opportunities may be tailored to your interests and strengths.

What qualifications or experience do I need?

Experience is helpful but not required. A passion for theatre, willingness to learn, and basic communication and organizational skills are commonly needed.

Will my internship count towards academic credit?

Some internships offer school credit if arranged in advance with your institution. We are a not a government body but we are a registered trust and recognized by most institutions.

How long do theatre internships last?

Duration varies widely: all our internships will have a minimum of 7 days to maximum of 30 days duration. They are around a play rehearsals. You can choose to involve yourself in pre play planning and post play organization too. Let us know when you meet us.

What is the typical selection process?

We will observe your behavior in the internship group and based on your honesty and commitment will continue our relationship.
