Prakasam joins hands with Nammerica to bring a unique workshop to Kannadigas in North America.
Bengaluru-based Prakasam' Trust and USA based Nammerica Vishesha Vahini announce a pathbreaking collaboration to bring a rare and unprecedented online theatre workshop for Kannadigas in North America. Until now, both Prakasam and Nammerica individually continued to encourage culture and promote performing arts during COVID through innovative programs in art, literature and theatre.
Prakasam Trust has actively conducted many online workshops and shows during the last few months. Their successful model of BMTC (Bangalore Methodical Theatre Course) was targeted to people who are keen to pursue performing arts.
New
Jersey based Nammerica has been doing online shows of Kannada classics,
involving NRI Kannada artists for various groups in the US. Recently, Nammerica
was invited by the Indian Consulate of New York to perform a Kannada play in
the 2020 Vibrations Theatre Festival. Directed by Anand Rao, Nammerica
performed Shri Ranga’s Sampat-Dharma, which was the first time ever that a
Kannada play was invited to perform in a multi-lingual theatre festival.
Prakasam already conducts customized workshop with the Melbourne Kannada Sangha. This workshop with Nammerica will follow a similar structure.Well-known theatre artists like Sihi Kahi Chandru, Krishna Hebbale and others are confirmed to be guest faculty. The promoters of the workshop PD Satish Chandra of Prakasam and Anand Rao of Nammerica are experienced theatre practitioners themselves and will play an active role in designing and delivering the curriculum.
PD Sathish Chandra, Director, Prakasam Trust said "looking at the enthusiasm of the Kannadigas in Melbourne we reached out to Nammerica to explore USA & Canada. We did find a favourable audiences for our unique experience. Yes we would love to call it an experience rather than a workshop or a online course. We base our experiences as the course structure and arrive at the final performance & believe in experiential learning.
Anand Rao, Founder and Director of Nammerica said, “Kannada theatre has never received the credit and attention it truly deserves in the world, and we have made itour main focus for Nammerica this year. There is an increased interest right now and Nammerica aims build on this to create a new Kannada theatre movement in the United States and I am excited to be partners with Prakasam in taking this vision forward.”

completely interactive session, we believe in experiential learning. Each

works with 12 to 15 people with video & has no streaming lags. If you guys know of a better working thing we
have no problems moving there. Zoom
works equally well on smart phones and laptops.
