We are always under the impression that the popular culture music specially Indian movie music, which generally comes under the category of noise rather than music. But in a country where movies are part of culture and an industry with 138.2 billion rupee turnover movies are taken pretty seriously. And we do have maverick music composers with aesthetical tastes who have given us songs which we relish till today and for a long time to come.
Prakasam will present “Raaga in Films” and explore the musical genius of music composers who have presented us with gems based on classical Indian music raagas. We would be presenting the raaga first followed by a live performance of the songs based on those raagas and take you on an unique musical journey. We would take you on the ups of Shivaranjini and depths of Bhairavi, introduce you to the charming Jhanjhuti and her sister Gurjari Todi.

About Prakasam's Swaraaga:
Music is the mantra of mankind to rejuvenate and recreate the senses. We at Prakasam have started an initiative "SwaRaaga", to encourage & nurture musical talents from all walks of life. With the success of "Bhava Navanaveena" during RangaAayama 2014 we decided to take the informal music gatherings we used to conduct into an organised effort to promote young musicians. With aim to establish a strong foothold in performing arts for youngsters we have started many initiatives. Our projects take shape under the umbrella of Kala Krushi and we are happy to announce Swaraga as the newest initiative to create music to enrich the soul.
