We had heard a great deal about this production and we approached Shahji for direction of this play for Prakasam. He agreed and it was bliss, we read it and and decided to stage it, we didn't stop there we re-read, did private reading sessions, enjoyed it more with every reading. Now its seeing stage for your eyes only.

ಬಾಯಿದ್ದವನು ಬರಗಾಲದಲ್ಲೂ ಬದುಕ್ತಾನೆ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಜಾಣ ಮಾತು. ಅಪ್ರಿಯವಾದ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಬಾರ್ದ್ದೂ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಇನ್ನೋಂದು ಮಾತು. ಆದ್ರೆ ಒಳಿತಾಗುವಂತ ಸುಳ್ಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಬದುಕನ್ನ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು ಅನ್ನೋದು ಗೋಲ್ದಿನಿ ಮಾತು. ಹೌದು..... ಕಾರ್ಲೋ ಗೋಲ್ದಿನಿಯ 'ಸರ್ವೆಂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಟೂ ಮಾಸ್ಟರ್ರ್ಸ್' ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಇದೆ. ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಅನೇಕ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ... ಅನೇಕ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ಧಾರೆ. ಈಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಸರದಿ. ಬಹಳ ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ಕಾಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದ ನಾಟಕ ಇದು. ಮಾನ್ಯ ಎಂ.ಪಿ.ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ರವರ ಕನಸಿನ ಕೂಸಾದ ರಂಗಭಾರತಿ ರೆಪರ್ಟರಿ ಶುರುವಾದಾಗ ಈ ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಡುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಸಿಕ್ತು. 'ಶಂಭೋ ಶಿವ ಶಂಕರ' ಅನ್ನೋ ಶಿರೋ ನಾಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿತವಾಗಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯೂ ಆಯ್ತು. ನಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಪಿ.ಡಿ.ಸತೀಶ್ ನನ್ನು ನೋಡ್ದಾಗೆಲ್ಲ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಂಭುವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸ್ತಿತು. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದಾಗ ಹೇಳಿದೆ. 'ನೋಡು ಇಂಥ ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಸೂಟ್ ಆಗ್ತಿಯಾಂತ'. ನೀವು ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ಮಾಡೋದಾದ್ರೆ ನಾನು ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಲು ಸೈ' ಅಂತ ಮಾತು ಕೊಟ್ಟ. ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಪಾಡಿನ ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಯ ಒಡನಾಟವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕಮ್ಮಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಇಂಥ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಡಲು ಹಚ್ಚಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕಾಸಂ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಅಭಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಈ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ತರುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ. ಮಸ್ತ್ ನಾಟಕ.... ನಿಮಗೆ ಖುಷಿ ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ.... ನಾಗೇಂದ್ರ ಶಾ

'ಶಂಭೋ ಶಿವ ಶಂಕರ' ಅನ್ನೋ ಶಿರೋ ನಾಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿತವಾಗಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯೂ ಆಯ್ತು. ನಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಪಿ.ಡಿ.ಸತೀಶ್ ನನ್ನು ನೋಡ್ದಾಗೆಲ್ಲ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಂಭುವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸ್ತಿತು. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದಾಗ ಹೇಳಿದೆ. 'ನೋಡು ಇಂಥ ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಸೂಟ್ ಆಗ್ತಿಯಾಂತ'. ನೀವು ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ಮಾಡೋದಾದ್ರೆ ನಾನು ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಲು ಸೈ' ಅಂತ ಮಾತು ಕೊಟ್ಟ. ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಪಾಡಿನ ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಯ ಒಡನಾಟವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕಮ್ಮಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಇಂಥ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಡಲು ಹಚ್ಚಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕಾಸಂ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಅಭಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಈ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ತರುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ. ಮಸ್ತ್ ನಾಟಕ.... ನಿಮಗೆ ಖುಷಿ ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ.... ನಾಗೇಂದ್ರ ಶಾ

The play is a wonderful adaptation of Carlo Goldoni's "Servant of Two Masters". Mr. Shambo Shiva Shankara - is an out and out comedy play and will surely keep the audiences on the edge of the seat if not below. The highlight of the play is situational comedy which has been topped with some contemporary yet simple and clean dialougues by the author.
The play has a lot of twists and turns which is clearly understood by the audience while the characters get into multiple modes of confusions making it even more funnier for the audience. The play is centered on the confusions created by a liar in the lair who names himself differently to weave a web of stories which, for the characters on stage is truth while for the audience the lies behind it is clearly visible maximizing the fun element.
Each of the characters have been very intricately sketched by the author and provides the necessary support to the success of the script. The play ends on a good high note with the one wedding turning into three. Confused?? Come watch us enact while you react with a whole lot of your face muscles.....

Play Summary:
Akhilandeshwara and Suvarnatheertha are two rich men whose kids Gunavantha and Charusheele are getting married and the play opens at the wedding hall. The wedding is halted by Maayadhare who has come as her brother's Bhavasaagara to take the money that akhilandeshwar had to pay her brother. Bhavasaagara is killed by Maayadhare's love interest Mohan Kumar in a fight. Shankar the servant plays spoil sport by halting the wedding.
With bhavasaagara coming back from being dead and to keep up the promise given to him Akhilandeshwar breaks the marriage of Charusheele with gunavantha.
Mohan kumar has also run away after killing Bhavasaagara to the same town where this wedding is happening and is staying in Bhojaraja's hotel. Bhojaraja happens to be a good friend of Akhilandeshwar and also Bhavasaagara, so naturally Maayadhare also stays in the same hotel where her love interest stays.
Shankar who is Maayadhare's servant looks for some alternative sources to make money and also starts to work as a servant for Mohan kumar without Maayadhare's knowledge leading a whole lot comedy confusions.
