P ಪ್ರಕಸಂ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವ "ಜಲ್ಪ"

ಜಲ್ಪ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಕೇಳಿದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ, ಏನಿದು? ಕನ್ನಡದ ಪದವೇ? ಎಂಬುದು.  ಈ ಪದದ ಸರಳಾರ್ಥ "ಸಂವೇದನಾಶೀಲ ಮಾತು". ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಜಲ್ಪವೆಂದರೆ "ಒಬ್ಬರ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು (ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿಸಿಯಾದರೂ) ನಡೆಸುವ ವಿವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ಚರ್ಚೆ. ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಬೇಕಾದ, ಅಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿರುವ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಪದ್ದತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಇಂದೂ ಸವಾಲಾಗಿರುವ "ದಯಾಮರಣ" ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮುರಿದುಬಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದಿಡಲು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಪ್ರಕಸಂನ ನಟರಿಗೆಲ್ಲ ನಡೆದಾಡುವ ಶಾಲೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಸಿಹಿ ಕಹಿ ಚಂದ್ರುರವರು ಮುಖ್ಯಪಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ರಂಜಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬನ್ನಿ ದಯೆಯೇ ಧರ್ಮದ ಮೂಲದ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಮಾಡೋಣ.

The word "Jalpa" makes us ask questions like, what is it? Is it even a Kannada word? The literal meaning of this word is "sensible speech". It can be defined as "a controversial debate conducted to establish one's theory (even by condemning another). "Euthanasia" is the crux of the storyline and challenges our social justice system. We bring to you a story of a broken family. Sihi Kahi Chandru, an walking school for all actors, plays the main protogonist. Come lets explore the root of every religion of the world.

Directors Note: ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಸುಕೊಕ್ಕಾಗಿರುವ ಭಾವನೆಗಳ ಏರಿಳಿತಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದು ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿಯಯಲೆಂದೆ ಬೋಗಿ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆವು. ನಂತರ ಭಾವನೆಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ತೇಜಸ್ ನನ್ನಬಳಿ ಈ ನಾಟಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ ಒಂದುತರ ಒಂದೇ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಹಕ್ಕಿ ಅನುಭವವಾಯಿತು, ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಹೊಸಬರನ್ನು ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಪರಿಚಾಯಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸಬರನ್ನು ರಂಗಕರ್ಮಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು. ಈ ಎರಡೂ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಡೇರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ತೇಜಸ್ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಹೊಸತನ, ಹುರುಪಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಹೊಸ ಸಂಚಲನೆಯನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಿತು.  ಮೂಲ ಕಥೆಯು ದಶಕಗಳ ಹಿಂದಿನದಾದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಮತ್ತು ಚಂದನ್, ತೇಜಸ್ ಜೊತೆ ಕುಳಿತು ಕೆಲವು ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದೆವು. ನನ್ನ ಅದ್ಬುತ ತಂಡದ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಭಾವನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೃದುವಾದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ನೀಡುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಜಲ್ಪ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ.  

Writers Note: 

Dr. Shankar Shesh's Hindi play Fhandi served as the inspiration for the courtroom drama Jalpa. But the premise is completely adapted for different dramatic experience. Jalpa is the term for an argument between two adversaries who are fervently trying to win, by whatever means necessary. The same actions are subject to various laws in different nations. One of these is euthanasia; although several nations permit their citizens to choose EPAS (euthanasia or physician aided suicide), we seldom ever witness instances of passive euthanasia in India. Our legal system is still reluctant to authorise active euthanasia, despite the fact that the ability to die with dignity has been proclaimed a basic right. Another motive for composing a play like this is the freemium health care system, which is beyond of reach for the poorer classes.

What is Jalpa?
Jalpa (जल्प, “wrangling”) refers to the eleventh of the sixteen padārthas (“categories”) in the first chapter of Gautama’s Nyāyasūtra (2nd century CE). Jalpa is wrangling in which both the parties try to establish their own position without rule and regulation. They state unjustifiable arguments and reasons with full confidence to show their truth. Sometimes lawyers use this process. In the Nyāyasūtra jalpa is stated to be that in which to defend or attack of proposition through quibbles, futilities and other processes.
