Prakasam continues to associate itself with enthusiastic theater productions with the primary intention of entertaining audiences. Our next venture is on similar lines and this time we have roped in one of the legends of Kannada theatre and tinsel world Mr. Nagendra Shah.
Mr. Shambho Shiva Shankara is a play conceptualized written and directed by Mr. Nagendra Shah. It gives us immense pleasure to work on such a prized production under the able guidance of Mr. Nagendra Shah. We read the script once and we just could not stop ourselves from reading it again and again.
It is a conceptualized with punching and proximate dialogues penned by Mr. Nagendra Shah. The audience will find it hard to keep their eyes without water and to keep themselves on the chairs by the end of this play. In this era where it is hard to find meaningful and clean comedy this play will surely bowl you over with comedy which is of highest order.
Highlights of this play:
• 90% LPL - Highest rate of LPL (Laugh per line).
• Created with clean and sensible humour with only one bad word in the whole play (we would be glad if someone actually spots this bad word, coming in between heavy comic situations.
• Multiple characters donned by multiple characters.
• Contemporary and relatable dialogues.
• True-lies throughout.
• Gripping structure binding the audience to the play.
• We are presenting it in the classic style of classic commedia tradition.
• Treat to all ages & come prepared to ROFL...
About the Play:
The play is a wonderful adaptation of Carlo Goldoni's "Servant of Two Masters". Mr. Shambo Shiva Shankara - is an out and out comedy play and will surely keep the audiences on the edge of the seat if not below. The highlight of the play is situational comedy which has been topped with some contemporary yet simple and clean dialogues by the author.
The play has a lot of twists and turns which is clearly suggested to the audiences, the play is for the audience, mostly by the audience and definitely to the audience. Whilst the characters get into multiple modes of confusions created through chain reaction of a single lie. The casting and blocking of the play makes the play even funnier for the audience. The play is centred on the confusions created by a liar in the lair who names himself differently to weave a web of stories, which, for the characters on stage is truth while for the audience the lies behind it is clearly visible maximizing the fun element.
Each of the characters has been very intricately sketched by the author and provides the necessary support to the success of the script. The play ends on a good high note with the one wedding turning into three. Confused?? Come watch us enact while you react with a whole lot of your face muscles.....
Directors Note: Nagendra Shah
“One who knows how to speak can survive even in toughest of situations” is a well-known saying and so is the saying “Never says a truth that hurts” but “one can build a life by telling harmless lies” is what Carlo Goldini says. Yes… Carlo Goldini’s Servant of the two masters has everything in it. This play has been staged across the globe in various languages and countries and now it is our turn to stage it.
This play was first stage when respected Shri M.P. Prakash started his repertory “Rangabhaarathi” and it was staged with the same name “Shambho Shiva Shankara” and was a huge success. Whenever I saw P.D. Sathish Chandra, I always felt that he suits the character of shambho and I told this to him as well. He agreed to do the play if I would direct it and here it is. In these times where I have been keeping myself away from theatre for various reasons, I thank Prakasam group for roping me into this venture. It’s a masth play and I am sure you all will enjoy it.
